Sometimes the theme used in Windows will not work properly.
Run gtk2_prefs.exe, which can be found in
C:\Program Files\GrampsAIO64\bin
r in
C:\Program Files (X86)\GrampsAIO32\bin
and select "Crux" or "Clearlooks".
