As Manuel points out, this is a flawed fix, and doesnt fix the
following:

mkdir -p cpa cpb cpc
cp -a cpa cpa/cpb/cpc

Attached what appears to be a more sane fix.  Apply on top of previous.
Please confirm sanity.
